Fappening events are becoming so common nowadays that perhaps they deserve their own category in InfoSec. A new batch of nude photos has been leaked targeting WWE divas. Some of the wrestling stars affected include Maria Kanellis and Joseann ‘JoJo’ Offerman. It is not yet known how the leak happened or who is responsible for it. According to the adult site where the images where published, this is just the first batch of WWE related publications with more coming in the future. Kanellis and Offerman have yet to comment on the recent releases.
This is the second instance where hackers target wrestling stars this year. Last March a number of female wrestlers were affected by the nude breach including Celeste Bonin, Danielle Moinet, and Saraya-Jade Bevis. In the case of Bevis, also known as Paige, WhatsApp conversations and compromising pictures were shared publicly. All this followed the earlier disclosure of celebrity nudes this year, known as the Fappening 3.0, containing images of famous stars like Miley Cyrus and Anne Hatheway.
Personal and private photos of mine were stolen and unfortunately they were shared publicly without my consent.

While it is still not clear how the nude pictures were acquired, given how the previous fappenings occurred, it is likely that it is related to the usage of some cloud service. As I stated before, twice actually, anything that is uploaded to a cloud service is at risk of being hacked. If you are uploading sensitive media to a cloud service, one must be extra cautious. If you have already been compromised, you can also use the method developed by the Australian singer Sia. Once she found out that her nudes were being sold on the internet, she decided to release the nude herself. I guess you can’t be blackmailed or profited from if you already leak them.
